Head of Revenue
Who we are
R-LABS is Canada’s real estate and housing venture builder, bringing together innovative corporations, institutional partners, and game-changing entrepreneurs to address critical challenges across the built environment. Through our proprietary venture building platform, we co-create, launch, and scale technology-enabled companies and new business models across areas such as housing affordability, climate resilience, construction innovation, energy systems, property intelligence, and infrastructure.
As the real estate industry’s dedicated venture builder, innovation is central to our ecosystem and embedded in how we identify opportunities, validate solutions, and cultivate high-impact businesses. Our Partner Companies are early-stage, innovation-driven ventures solving complex industry problems through technology, data, operational transformation, and ecosystem collaboration — supported by R-LABS’ deep industry expertise, strategic networks, capital, and leadership. We are focused not only on building meaningful enterprise value, but also on driving transformative, long-term impact across real estate, housing, and the communities these systems serve.
Who we need
Reporting to the Managing Director, Capital & Corporate Development, we are hiring a Head of Revenue to help early-stage ventures move from validation to commercial adoption. Working directly with founders and CEOs across multiple R-LABS co-created companies, you will act as a strategic and hands-on commercialization partner, helping define go-to-market strategies, define positioning, identify target customers and partnerships, and support the sales approach needed to generate early traction. You will play a critical role in helping founders navigate the realities of bringing evolving technology solutions to market by opening doors, building and activating relationships, supporting enterprise sales conversations, and helping ventures establish sustainable revenue foundations across the built environment ecosystem.
This role is based full-time in our downtown Toronto office. Given the hands-on, multi-venture nature of the role, daily collaboration with founders, venture teams, and R-LABS leadership is integral to success - in-person presence accelerates the relationship-building and commercialization work at the heart of this position.
Who you are
You are a commercially minded and entrepreneurial revenue leader who knows how to build momentum in environments where there is no established playbook. You may come from a venture-backed startup, venture studio, emerging technology company, boutique advisory environment, or highly entrepreneurial sales organization where success depended on creativity, persistence, adaptability, and the ability to create traction without the support of an established brand. You are comfortable operating at the early stages of a company, in ambiguity, balancing strategic thinking with execution, and adapting your approach as products, customer feedback, and market opportunities evolve. Exposure to sectors connected to the built environment - including real estate, financial services, insurance, infrastructure, construction, climate, energy, or adjacent technology ecosystems - is highly valuable. Most importantly, you are resourceful, commercially curious, and energized by helping innovative companies grow from early-stage concepts into viable businesses.
What’s in it for you
Impact. You want to play a meaningful role in helping early-stage ventures move from concept to commercial success. Working directly with seasoned founders and CEOs across multiple R-LABS co-created companies, you will help shape go-to-market strategies, refine commercialization approaches, and support ventures as they secure their first meaningful customers and revenue streams. Your work will directly influence how innovative technologies are introduced, adopted, and scaled across industries connected to the built environment, including real estate, financial services, insurance, infrastructure, and climate resilience.
Ownership. You want the opportunity to build, influence, and operate at both a strategic and executional level. This is not a role where you inherit a mature playbook or established sales engine. You will help create the commercialization strategy, identify opportunities, open doors, build relationships, and support founders through complex sales conversations and partnership discussions. You will work across multiple ventures simultaneously, bringing structure, creativity, and commercial thinking to businesses that are still evolving in real time.
Career development. You are excited by the opportunity to work at the intersection of venture building, innovation, commercialization, and industry transformation. At R-LABS, you will collaborate with experienced founders, institutional partners, and a deeply connected ecosystem that has been built over years of industry engagement. You will gain exposure to a broad range of emerging technologies, business models, and sectors while expanding your strategic, operational, and relationship-building capabilities. This is an opportunity to grow your impact, broaden your commercial expertise, and help shape ventures tackling some of the biggest challenges facing the built environment today.
What you will do:
- Lead commercialization strategy. You will work closely with founders, venture teams, and R-LABS leadership to understand each company’s vision, business model, customer pain points, and growth objectives. You will help shape go-to-market strategies, refine value propositions, identify target customers and partnership opportunities, and support the development of pricing, positioning, and commercialization approaches that align with each venture’s stage and market opportunity.
- Build traction and relationships. You will help ventures establish early market momentum by opening doors, building strategic relationships, and supporting enterprise sales conversations across industries connected to the built environment. Acting as a strategic commercialization partner to founders and CEOs, you will contribute to customer engagement strategies, support pilot and partnership discussions, and help ventures navigate the realities of securing early customers and revenue.
- Support and guide founders. You will work alongside founders as a trusted commercialization advisor, helping them adapt strategies based on customer feedback, market responses, and evolving business priorities. You will bring structure, commercial thinking, and practical guidance to ventures operating in fast-moving and ambiguous environments, helping teams prioritize opportunities and strengthen their approach to growth.
- Drive continuous improvement. You will help build scalable commercialization frameworks, processes, and playbooks that can support multiple ventures across the R-LABS ecosystem. You will track market feedback, customer engagement, and revenue progress to identify opportunities for refinement and improvement. You will also stay informed on emerging industry trends, evolving technologies, and commercialization best practices to help ventures remain competitive and forward-thinking.
You bring:
- The commercial and venture experience. You have experience in enterprise sales, business development, revenue growth, commercialization, or go-to-market leadership within venture-backed startups, venture studios, emerging technology companies, boutique advisory environments, or highly entrepreneurial sales organizations. You understand the realities of bringing evolving products and services to market and have helped businesses secure early customers, establish market traction, and build scalable revenue foundations.
- The industry exposure and relationships. You bring exposure to industries connected to the built environment, including real estate, financial services, insurance, infrastructure, construction, climate, energy, or adjacent technology ecosystems. You may already have relationships across these sectors, but equally important is your ability to proactively build credibility, open doors, and create new commercial opportunities within complex industries and stakeholder groups.
- The entrepreneurial mindset. You are comfortable operating in ambiguity and can adapt as products, customer feedback, and market opportunities evolve. You know how to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution and are energized by building structure, momentum, and commercial pathways where a defined playbook may not yet exist.
- The communication and collaboration skills. You can communicate ideas clearly, influence stakeholders, and collaborate effectively across multiple ventures and teams simultaneously. You know how to listen, ask thoughtful questions, simplify complex ideas, and support founders as both a strategic advisor and hands-on commercialization partner.
- The adaptability and drive. You are resourceful, resilient, and motivated by the challenge of helping innovative companies grow from concept to commercial adoption. You are excited by fast-paced environments, continuous learning, and the opportunity to contribute to ventures shaping the future of the built environment.
Compensation: At R-LABS, we recognize the value of entrepreneurial thinking, commercialization expertise, and the ability to help emerging ventures build meaningful market traction. For this role, the base salary range is between $130,000 - $160,000 per annum, with an expected OTE of over $250,000 in Year 1, based on commercialization milestones achieved across the R-LABS portfolio. Variable compensation is milestone-driven, tied to revenue traction at our co-created ventures, and reviewed annually alongside base salary. Compensation will reflect the experience, industry exposure, relationship-building capabilities, and commercialization expertise each candidate brings to the role.
We are committed to fair, transparent, and thoughtful compensation practices that recognize both impact and growth potential. We welcome open conversations throughout the hiring process about compensation structure, expectations, and long-term opportunity.
